Derayna DeClay

Born on the Fort Apache Rez, DeClay is part of the Eagle Clan. Her art takes a critical view of what she sees on her Rez: need for female empowerment, environmental issues, traditional culture, alcoholism, abuse of women, & suicide. DeClay is an Indian American Institute of Art (IAIA) graduate & wants to revitalize her community through education, training, & art. She is a versatile artist utilizing many mediums such as Acrylic, markers, pencils, digital, etc. She believes creative expression can transform painful experiences into strength. She has found healing, growth & personal transformation through creating art. SSF2023 will mark Declay second showcasing at SSF. Last year, The Tia Collection purchased two of her monumental works, with the rest of her works selling out to the masses.

When I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was encouraged to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I received my bachelors from the Institute of American Indian Arts.  My imagery is split between small scale drawings up to permanent mural installations.

Fans of mine share my love of the beautiful and iconic imagery that is The White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation in Easter Arizona.

My images also share a lot of whimsey and humor with crossovers between yesterday and today.

I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts Santa Fe, MN.

My art business has been designated as a “Trusted Art Seller” with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
